I have been
patiently anxiously awaiting for the arrival of the Krispy Kreme Cake Mix in stores! I finally found it this past week at Harris Teeter and couldn’t wait to try it.
I know it’s a cake mix, but I just HAD to try it out as doughnuts.
Homemade Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
(well they were made at home, so that’s close enough to homemade right?)
So I skipped the box recipe and used:
1 cup Water
1/4 cup oil
Of course if you try this out you will need a doughnut pan. You can get one here on Amazon for under $10. It’s really fun to make doughnuts now and again! Grease your pan and fill each hole with 3/4 batter. Preheat your oven to 325. Bake at 325 for 17 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes and then remove from pan. The box makes 12 delicious, yummy doughnuts.
I loved the smell of fresh baked doughnuts all through my house! Yum! Boy they smelled amazing! The glaze comes in a pouch. I just heated it over warm water and snipped the corner and drizzled it over the doughnuts. Easy Peasy!
All in all we really enjoyed these doughnuts! Ok, let’s face it, they won’t have you jumping up and down, (like I am known to do when I spot the ‘hot and now’ sign on, but they are really good! (and I might add baked, not fried so slightly healthier right? 😉 ) And a little more frugal.. just $2.50 for a dozen!
Let me know what you think? Have you tried the new cake mix? Like it? Hate it? Leave me a comment. 🙂
